Finger food · Ottawa

Finger food catering in Ottawa, for parties, open houses, office afternoons and receptions where guests eat standing up: savoury pieces that finish in two bites, boards of cheese and cured meat, crudités with dips, fruit and small sweets, all set out on your own table in 45 to 90 minutes before the first guest arrives. Prices start at $42 per guest for roughly 12 to 50 guests, and the quote counts the pieces for your guests and your hours.

The OH! approach

Two bites each,
and enough of them to last the evening.

What goes on a finger food table

Every item is chosen to be eaten with one hand, because the other one is usually holding a glass.

  • Two-bite savoury pieces on a firm base
  • Cheese and cured meat on boards, cut to be picked up
  • Crudités and breads with dips
  • Fruit, olives and nuts
  • Medovik, kartoshka cakes and nalysnyky for the sweet run

How many pieces per guest

At appetiser level it is five to seven pieces per guest over ninety minutes, where dinner follows somewhere else. Where the finger food is the meal, it is ten to fourteen pieces per guest over two hours, and a standing evening of three hours takes fourteen to sixteen pieces per guest, a third of them substantial. Our hors d’oeuvres guide works the counts for every length of party.

Finger food as the meal

With no dinner after, the finger food carries the evening: plan on 300 to 400 g of food per guest and more of the substantial pieces. Hot dishes can stand beside the cold table, quoted per event, and our hot buffet page lists the ones OH! has cooked and sold so far.

When finger food suits the room

A room of guests who stand and talk eats well from a table they can come back to: nobody waits for a course, people eat at their own pace, and a late guest finds the same food as the first one. A seated dinner suits a room with a chair for everyone and a fixed hour for eating; finger food suits the rest.

Boards and trays, or one composed table

The same food can arrive as boards and trays set out on your table, or as one composed table built in 45 to 90 minutes; either way the serving pieces leave with us, the same evening or the next morning by arrangement. Our party platters page describes the board-and-tray order, and our reception catering page the canapés for a cocktail hour.

Labelling small food

A small piece is the hardest food to label, because the card can be bigger than what it describes. The cards are grouped by run and name each item in plain words, with its dietary markers underneath. Send the dietary needs with the final count, and a serious allergy is a conversation before the date.

What it costs

From $42 per guest for the food and the styled build, with the working range at $42–$65 per guest; finger food that replaces dinner sits at the top of it. The $600 event minimum applies before delivery and taxes, so a small group is quoted at the minimum, and delivery and on-site styling are $45 within 25 km.

Booking

A 30% deposit and a signed quote hold the date, the final count is due 7 days before, and a date moved more than 14 days out gets its deposit back. Enquiries are usually answered within an hour, and always within one business day.

Questions, answered

Before you
say OH!

How much does finger food catering for 30 people cost in Ottawa?

$1,260 at the starting price of $42 per guest, plus $45 for delivery and on-site styling within 25 km: $1,305 for thirty standing guests, plus applicable taxes. A table that replaces the meal runs to the top of the $42–$65 per guest range: $1,950 plus delivery for 30.

How many appetizers per person do I need?

Five to seven pieces per guest over ninety minutes where dinner follows, ten to fourteen pieces per guest over two hours where the finger food is the meal, and fourteen to sixteen over three hours standing — so thirty guests take 150–210, 300–420 or 420–480 pieces. The quote counts them for your hours.

Can you deliver finger food for an office afternoon?

Yes: $45 covers delivery and on-site styling within 25 km, the pieces are set out on your boardroom table or kitchen counter in 45 to 90 minutes, and the boards leave with us afterwards. The $600 event minimum applies before delivery and taxes.

How do you handle allergies and dietary requirements?

Share dietary preferences and allergy information when you enquire. We plan suitable choices and label the table clearly. For severe or life-threatening allergies we talk through cross-contact before you book, and we cannot guarantee allergen-free preparation on a shared table.
