Ukrainian catering · Ottawa

OH! is Ukrainian catering in Ottawa run by a Ukrainian family: Anastasiia Stepanenko and her mother, Nataliia, who came to Ottawa in 2023. The dishes on offer for an event are the ones OH! cooked and sold at its own stand at UAFest 2026 — varenyky filled with potato or with potato and cheese, finished with fried onions and sour cream, and grilled Ukrainian sausage, with medovik, kartoshka cakes and nalysnyky for the sweet side. They are quoted per event for roughly 12 to 50 guests, under the $600 event minimum, on their own or beside a styled table.

The OH! approach

Varenyky on the table,
medovik for later.

The dishes

Every dish below has been cooked and sold under the OH! name, at the stand in Riverside Park, Carleton Place, on 13 September 2026. Name the ones you want and the count, and the quote prices them for your guests.

  • Varenyky, filled with potato or with potato and cheese, finished with fried onions and sour cream
  • Grilled Ukrainian sausage
  • Medovik, the layered honey cake
  • Kartoshka cakes
  • Nalysnyky, rolled crêpes with poppy seed and cherry or with sweet cheese

A Ukrainian table for a family occasion

A christening lunch after the church, a parent’s birthday with the grandparents at the table, a reception after a service, or an evening for friends who miss the food from home: each of these is a table of varenyky, sausage and sweets for the whole family. Our christening catering page covers the lunch after the service, and our family reunion catering page the long afternoon at home.

Hot dishes, timed to the meal

The varenyky and the sausage arrive for the hour your guests eat and stand on the table for about two hours at room temperature, or about one hour once the room is warmer than about 32 °C, which is Health Canada’s rule for perishable food. After that what is left goes into the fridge, boxed for you. Our hot buffet page sets out how a hot order is planned.

The sweet side

Medovik, kartoshka and nalysnyky go on a tray or a run of the table of their own, beside a celebration cake if you have one: the cake keeps its cleared space, and the Ukrainian sweets fill the rest of the dessert. Our dessert table catering page carries the quantities per guest.

Beside a styled table

Many hosts want both: hot Ukrainian dishes for the meal, and a styled share table of cheese, cured meat, fruit and dips to graze across the afternoon. The table starts at $42 per guest and is composed on your surface in 45 to 90 minutes; the Ukrainian dishes go on the same quote, each on its own line.

Who cooks it

Anastasiia Stepanenko started OH! this summer with her mother, Nataliia; the family is from Kharkiv. Before OH!, Anastasiia and her Cookiddoo studio catered the Ukrainian Business Network evening at Invest Ottawa in June 2025. The food is prepared in a rented commercial kitchen in Ottawa and delivered to your home or hall.

Frozen varenyky for later

For the freezer at home, the same varenyky come frozen by the bag, with free delivery in Kanata; the frozen varenyky page has the bags and the prices.

How the quote is built

Ukrainian dishes are quoted per event, from the dishes, the guest count and the hour you eat, because no per-guest price for them is published yet. The $600 event minimum applies before delivery and taxes, delivery is $45 within 25 km, a 30% deposit and a signed quote hold the date, and the final count is due 7 days before. Enquiries are usually answered within an hour, and always within one business day.

Questions, answered

Before you
say OH!

What Ukrainian dishes can OH! cater for an event in Ottawa?

Five dishes, all cooked and sold at OH!’s own UAFest 2026 stand: varenyky filled with potato or with potato and cheese, finished with fried onions and sour cream, and grilled Ukrainian sausage on the hot side, and medovik, kartoshka cakes and nalysnyky on the sweet side. Any other dish you name gets a straight answer about whether we can cook it for your date.

How much does Ukrainian catering cost in Ottawa?

$600 is the event minimum, before delivery and taxes; the Ukrainian dishes themselves are quoted per event from the dishes, the count and the hour, and a styled table beside them starts at $42 per guest. Delivery is $45 within 25 km, and the quote usually arrives within an hour.

Can you cater varenyky for a christening or a family party of 30?

Yes: thirty guests sit inside the roughly 12 to 50 guests OH! plans for, and hot varenyky with fried onions and sour cream are quoted per event on the same quote as any styled table. They stand for about two hours at room temperature, so they arrive timed to the hour your guests eat.

How do you handle allergies and dietary requirements?

Share dietary preferences and allergy information when you enquire. We plan suitable choices and label the table clearly. For severe or life-threatening allergies we talk through cross-contact before you book, and we cannot guarantee allergen-free preparation on a shared table.
