What a hot buffet from OH! is

Hot dishes, prepared in a rented commercial kitchen in Ottawa and delivered for your buffet at the hour you eat. Guests help themselves, the host stays at the party, and the kitchen at home stays free for the kettle. It suits a birthday dinner at home, a christening lunch after the service, a reception after a funeral, or a long family afternoon where somebody wants a proper plate of food.

The hot dishes we have cooked and sold

The hot food OH! has cooked and sold so far comes from its stand at UAFest 2026 in Carleton Place: varenyky filled with potato or with potato and cheese, finished with fried onions and sour cream, and grilled Ukrainian sausage. Any of them can be asked for on a buffet. For anything else on your list, name the dishes when you enquire, and the reply says plainly which of them we can cook for your date and what it would take.

Hot dishes beside a styled table

A buffet often wants both: something hot to fill a plate with, and a table to graze across the afternoon. The cold side is the styled share table this site prices from $42 per guest, composed on your surface in 45 to 90 minutes, and the hot dishes are quoted beside it on the same quote, each on its own line. Our grazing tables page explains how the cold table is built.

How long hot food can stand

Hot food follows the same Health Canada clock as everything else on a buffet: about two hours at room temperature, and about one hour once the room is warmer than about 32 °C. After that, what is left goes into the fridge. So the hot dishes are timed to the hour your guests actually eat, and an afternoon that runs long is planned around that clock when the quote is written.

What the room needs

Send what the house or the hall has with the enquiry: the surface the buffet will stand on, whether an oven or a stovetop is free on the day, how far the carry is from the door, and where plates and cutlery will come from. Halls often rent in fixed blocks and set their own rules about outside food and the use of their kitchen, so we confirm those with the hall before quoting.

Who serves

A buffet is self-serve once it is on the table. A styled table is built to run itself, so most events need nobody standing behind it. Where yours needs hands on the floor, say so when you enquire and we will tell you straight away whether we can cover your date and what it would take.

Small groups and larger ones

Hot buffets run at roughly 12 to 50 guests. Smaller groups are taken too, at the $600 event minimum, so the price per guest rises as the group shrinks, and the quote shows that plainly before you decide. Our small party catering page works through ten to twenty guests at home.

Dietary needs

Every dish on the buffet carries a card with its plain name. Send allergies and dietary needs with the enquiry, while the dishes are still being chosen, and anything serious is a conversation with us before you book.

How the quote is built

Hot dishes are quoted per event: no per-guest price for hot food is published yet, so the figure comes back in the written quote, built from the dishes, the guest count and the hour you eat. The $600 event minimum applies before delivery and taxes, a 30% deposit and a signed quote hold the date, the final count is due 7 days before, and a date moved more than 14 days out gets its deposit back. Enquiries are usually answered within an hour, and always within one business day.

Questions, answered

Before you
say OH!

How much does a hot buffet cost in Ottawa?

$600 is the event minimum for a hot buffet, before delivery and taxes, as it is for every booking; the hot dishes themselves are quoted per event, because no per-guest hot price is published yet. The written quote puts food, delivery and any styled table on separate lines, and it usually arrives within an hour of the enquiry.

What hot dishes can OH! cook for a buffet?

UAFest 2026 is where OH! cooked and sold the hot dishes it has made so far, at its own stand: varenyky filled with potato or with potato and cheese, finished with fried onions and sour cream, and grilled Ukrainian sausage. Name anything else you have in mind when you enquire, and the reply says which of it we can cook for your date.

How long can hot food stay out at a buffet?

About two hours at room temperature, and about one hour once the room is warmer than about 32 °C, which is Health Canada’s rule for perishable food. The hot dishes are timed to the hour your guests eat, and what is left after that goes into the fridge.

Can you do a hot buffet for 15 people?

Yes: fifteen guests are taken, and the $600 event minimum before delivery and taxes is the floor of the quote. The hot dishes are quoted for your count, and a styled cold table beside them is priced on the same arithmetic as our small party catering page.

How do you handle allergies and dietary requirements?

Share dietary preferences and allergy information when you enquire. We plan suitable choices and label the table clearly. For severe or life-threatening allergies we talk through cross-contact before you book, and we cannot guarantee allergen-free preparation on a shared table.
